Create Twitter Application

RecordPoint utilises the Twitter Application Programming Interface (API) to connect to your organisation’s Twitter account and retrieve records. This requires the creation of a Twitter application via the https://apps.twitter.com website.

The steps in this guide were correct at the time of publishing. Changes to the Twitter application creation process may subsequently occur. If this is the case we recommend that you review the Twitter support pages at https://help.twitter.com .

  2. Click on the ‘Create New App’ button.
  3. On the ‘Create an Application’ form:
  4. Enter a name for your Twitter App (this must be globally unique across all Twitter apps). Try [OrganisationName]RecordPoint (with no spaces).

  6. Enter http://www.recordpoint.com in the URL field.
  7. Leave the Callback URL field blank.
  8. Make a note of the ‘Consumer Key (API key)’ that is generated once your application has been created.
  9. Click the ‘manage keys and access tokens link’ and make a note of the ‘Consumer Secret (API Secret)’ that appears.
  10. Click on the ‘Keys and Access Tokens’ tab at the top of the application management screen. Under the ‘Your Access Token’ section, click the ‘Generate My Access Token and Token Secret’ button. Make a note of the ‘Access Token’ and ‘Access Token Secret’ that have been generated.
