RecordPoint Security Permissions

RecordPoint now provides the ability to manage permissions to record keeping processes and access to record data in the storage layer. The security infrastructure allows for an opt-in approach to RecordPoint permission settings.

In the RecordPoint site, Records User groups have been created with default settings, these are configurable.

For the Active Site, SharePoint groups can be granted RecordPoint security permissions.

Pre-requisites - RecordPoint security settings for the Active Site and RecordPoint

This will affect existing customers upgrading from 3.8 to 4.0 as specific allow or deny settings applied to users for specific functions will be reset (for both the Active Site and RecordPoint Site). Those upgrading from 3.9 to 4.0 will not need to perform the following.

To support this change, we recommend the following process before running the RecordPoint Upgrade Script

  1. Prior to performing a RecordPoint Upgrade
  2. Run the following RecordPoint scripts
  3. Active Site(s): RecordPointActive.SecurityConvert.ps1
  4. RecordPoint Site(s): RecordPointActive.SecurityConvert.ps1
  5. These scripts will export all existing security settings and provide a report
  6. Manually examine these results to determine new security options
  7. Perform the RecordPoint Upgrade
  8. Configure security settings through the UI using the output file

Active Site only:

  1. Run the script, "RecordPointActive.ConfigurationRead.ps1" on the site where security settings have been manually applied. This will save the current settings to a file on disk.
  2. To apply these settings to another site, use "RecordPointActive.ConfigurationUpdate.ps1"
