Introduction

The RecordPoint FileConnect provides the ability to apply records management to unstructured content in file shares.

This is done by creating watched folders and applying submission controls to content saved in local network file shares. Once content is submitted to RecordPoint, records policies are then automatically applied.

Overview

RecordPoint FileConnect can be deployed post install or upgrade but is limited to RecordPoint Version 3.7 CU1 or later for SharePoint 2010 and 2013. The management of file shares in this application is limited to only NTFS Drives and assumes the processing service can connect via HTTP/HTTPS to the RecordPoint farm.

How it works

FileConnect allows you to submit records from server mounter drives into RecordPoint where records controls can be applied. RecordPoint and FileConnect communicate to each other through HTTP. Actions such as submissions are sent to RecordPoint through its web service.
