Introduction

Retention information is now calculated for boxes based on its contents. Retention information for boxes is derived by the longest serving disposal action due date for files.

Roll up retention for boxes

Installs and Upgrades

Fresh installs do not need to do any additional tasks to have this feature enabled.

Upgrades need to run upgrade scrip to apply the roll up retention on all existing boxes. All existing boxes will get rollup retention calculated as part of the upgrade process.

All of the metadata fields used for rolling up retention to the file should be updated on the box.

Timer Job

The roll-up retention details for a box are calculated on a daily basis in accordance with current File rollup retention.

The daily tasks timer job handles the roll up retention for boxes.

Not supported

• Rules based retention is not supported for boxes; and
• Manual classification is not supported for boxes.
