Software Requirements (minimum)

The following is a list of the minimum software requirements:

  • Microsoft Server 2008 R2 or Microsoft Server 2012
  • RecordPoint Version 4.03 or later.
  • The InstallRecordPointSecuredServices.ps1 script has been run on all servers in the RecordPoint farm.
  • .NET Framework 4.5.

Hardware Requirements (minimum)

The following is a list of the minimum hardware requirements:

File Share Server

Processor

2 Cores

RAM

8 GB

Disk

Disk space is dependent on the queue size.

When processing documents FileConnect will create a local queue entry in the \ProgramData\RecordPointActiveFileSystem\Queue by default. If required, change this to a disk location with sufficient storage capacity.

Considerations for disk space:

When processing with aggregation set to Active Submit Stub the FileConnect processor will queue item of around 1KB for each item it processes. Refer to Section 5.2.2 for more information on Submission types.

Therefore if you are processing 10,000 records per day you will need 10MB of disk space for the queue.

When processing with Active Submit, full copies of the binary will be queued, so you will need to calculate the size of the (binaries + 2 KB)* items.

Enabling Connectors

By default RecordPoint Connectors should be enabled. This can be checked in SharePoint Central Administration.

  1. Log in as the SharePoint Administrator in Central Administration
  2. Navigate to Application Management
  3. Under RecordPoint, select RecordPoint Deployment and Configuration
  4. Click on the Configuration Process
  5. Select the RecordPoint Web Application required to manage file share content
  6. Select the RecordPoint Site Collection
  7. Click on Show Administrative Components
  8. Connectors should be Enabled (otherwise enable this feature prior to FileConnect Install).

Accounts and Groups

The following sections will define the accounts required for set up prior to installation.

User Account

Process: Installation and configuration of FileConnect.

User account: An administrator account with access to install, configure and manage FileConnect within the dedicated network.

Service Accounts

  1. Service: RecordPoint Active File System, by default the user will be Local System.
Description: This administrator account should have read/write access to files within the file share being managed. It can also be used to install and configure FileConnect.
Action: The service RecordPoint Active File System should be configured with an account with the correct access. This can be done in the Windows Services console. (Refer to section 3.3).
